One of America’s most influential filmmakers working today, Spike Lee has established himself as a director whose films deal with challenging issues and the conflicts facing the black community in America.
His fresh and unflinching exploration of race, sexuality, urban crime and politics has led to a string of often controversial hit films including Do The Right Thing, Jungle Fever, Clockers, Malcolm X and most recently Inside Man.
This boxset includes:
- MALCOLM X (1992): Explosive biopic starring Denzel Washington as controversial black activist Malcolm X.

- SHE’S GOTTA HAVE IT (1986): Spike Lee’s impressive debut feature is about a woman and her three lovers. This film gave the young and talented filmmaker his first success.
- SUMMER OF SAM (1999): Drama set during the summer of 1977 ‘Son of Sam’ murders starring John Leguizamo, Mira Sorvino and Adrian Brody.
Highly respected American director John Ford still holds the record for having won four Best Director Academy Awards® during his lifetime and was the first recipient of the American Film Institute Life Achievement Award in 1973. Ford pioneered the use of location shooting and many filmmakers who followed in his wake including Scorsese, Godard, Peckinpah and Kurosawa, have cited him as a major inspiration. His vision of the American Old West continues to impress audiences today.
This boxset includes:
- THE GRAPES OF WRATH (1940): John Ford won an Oscar for this film adaptation of John Steinbeck’s novel. The film stars Henry Fonda and follows a poor Midwest family who are forced off their land during the great depression.
- MY DARLING CLEMENTINE (1946): Henry Fonda stars as Wyatt Earp in this classic Western.
- THE HORSE SOLDIERS (1959): John Wayne and William Holden star in this American Civil War drama.
