Edinburgh stalwarts Flamenco Flow this year bring a touch of Spain to Scotland with their new show Flamenco con Fusion at the Pleasance King Dome (1st -27th Aug).
Led by composer and flamenco guitarist, Ricardo Garcia, Flamenco con Fusion is a unique collaboration between Scottish jazz musicians and Spanish flamenco dancers.
Energetic and contemporary, tradition collides with the twenty-first century in this ‘fringe treasure.’ Ricardo Garcia demonstrates an astounding melange of authentic Flamenco music and dance from Spain giving it an unprecedented modern twist.
Flamenco con Fusion is authentic flamenco with an entirely original fusion of elements from its own background Indian and Arab integrated rhythms. Rumbas and colombianas blended with modern influences such as Jazz. |

Ricardo Garcia is no stranger to mixing different styles of music. As an artist, Garcia has always been confident about who he is and where he comes from, and with that in mind, he never loses the essence of flamenco. Everything he does, if it isn’t pure flamenco, becomes flamenco through the magic of his art. This art can be improved upon, but it can never be learned. You have to be born with it.

Like every other ethnic music, Flamenco is constantly developing: integrating new and unusual harmonies and structures, experimenting with different rhythm patterns, flirting with other styles. Flamenco Fusion guarantees some surprises, some unexpected collaborations and some astonishing fusions! This is a fast, exciting, uplifting performance, relying heavily on improvisation and inspiration.
