The return of The Open to Carnoustie after a gap of 8 years saw arguably the greatest Championship of the modern era, won by Irishman Padraig Harrington in a tense four hole play-off against Spaniard Sergio Garcia. The four days of golf saw high drama, course records and some of the most sparkling golf ever seen on an Open Championship course as Harrington secured the first win of a major tournament by a European for 8 years and the first time in 60 years that an Irishman captured the Claret Jug.
Liberation Entertainment will be releasing all the action from those momentous four days in July on DVD; 'The Open Championship – The 2007 Official Film'. Released nationwide on 1st October 2007.

The lead changed hands constantly on the back nine stretch, with the high drama saved for holes fifteen through eighteen - considered the hardest closing holes in Major Championship golf. Andres Romero stood on the 17th a shot ahead of the field, but a double bogey 6 and a bogey at the 18th saw him finish a shot behind Harrington and Garcia.
Harrington stood on the 18th tee a shot ahead of the field, but twice he ended up in the Barry Burn as he carded a double bogey, which left him to stand and watch as Garcia needed just a par on the final hole. More drama followed as Garcia could not get up and down from a greenside bunker as his putt for the win lipped out cruelly.
Harrington held his nerve in the play off and was crowned The Open Champion in one of the most nerve wracking golfing finales in living memory.
This film not only tells the story of Harrington's emotional win over the world's finest players, but also provides the official and definitive record of the drama and excitement that surrounded The 136th Open Championship.
