Lou Reed: 'Hudson River Wind Meditations'
A meditation album to open the heart and settle the mind

Free from Preconception -
Music for the "Background of Life"
"I first composed this music for myself as an adjunct to meditation, T'ai Chi, bodywork and as music to play in the background of life—to replace the everyday cacophony with new and ordered sounds of an unpredictable nature. New sounds freed from preconception… I hope you find as much use for this music as I have in both writing and listening to it and exploring inner spaces."—Lou Reed, NYC, October 2006
Lou Reed's fans have learned to expect the unexpected, but his latest work may still come as a surprise. After four decades in the rock spotlight, Lou Reed has turned his attention to the world of meditation music, inviting listeners on a relaxing journey to the hidden territory of his inner landscape. With Hudson River Wind Meditations, the iconic "art rocker" presents his first album created specifically for quiet contemplation.
Hudson River Wind Meditations is a refreshing departure for Lou Reed, and is aimed at anyone who
is interested in meditation, bodywork and T'ai Chi.
The celebrated musician takes the listener on a relaxing journey to what he defines as the "hidden territory of the inner landscape." 20 minutes into the album, you'll gradually begin to feel your body and mind settle into a state of total relaxation. |

A practitioner of T'ai Chi for many years, Reed brings his unique sensitivity and knowledge of a broad spectrum of music genres, and provides a tranquil blend of soothing harmonics for the heart and mind. The pieces on the hypnotic album relieve tension and negative energy with sparse instrumentation and subtle waves of electronic sound.
Don't be fooled by when people say Wind Meditations is a follow-up to Metal Machine Music. It's not. As Lou points out on the liner notes of the CD, "This is music to play in the background of life - to replace the everyday cacophony of life with new and ordered sounds of an unpredictable nature."
