VDI Entertainment and The Illuminated Film Company are pleased to announce the U.K. DVD debut of ‘The Very Hungry Caterpillar & Other Stories’. Eric Carle’s enchanting tale of a hungry caterpillar who grows up to be a beautiful butterfly has delighted children of all ages for over 35 years, and this lovingly animated series brings Carle’s distinctive illustrations magically to life.
The DVD contains five unabridged stories narrated by Juliet Stevenson and Roger McGough:
- The Very Hungry Caterpillar tells the story of a caterpillar who eats and eats all week long, finally turning into a butterfly on Sunday.
- The Very Quiet Cricket follows a young cricket learning to communicate in the world of insects.
- The Mixed-Up Chameleon visits the zoo and envies the traits and qualities other animals possess.
- Papa, Please Get the Moon for Me depicts a little girl who wants to play with the moon, and her fathers attempt to fulfill her wish.
- I See a Song reveals a world wherein a violinist evokes colorful abstract images as he plays.
Like Carle’s books these animations are rich in the fundamental elements of storytelling, helping pre-schoolers to grasp the concepts of subject, plot and resolution, whilst imparting valuable nuggets of knowledge about life and nature.
Eric Carle has sold over 65 million books worldwide, with The Very Hungry Caterpillar selling one copy per minute since first going on sale in 1969.
