Warner Home Video announces the 11th September UK DVD release of ATL, a new kind of American story and the film debut of rap stars T.I. and Big Boi that’s loaded with over 40 minutes of special features including T.I.’s music video for ‘What You Know’.

Produced by Academy Award nominee and Hollywood heavy weight Will Smith (Hitch), ATL is the debut feature of acclaimed music video director Chris Robinson, who guides an ensemble that includes astonishingly natural movie newcomers Tip Harris (aka rapper T.I.), Lauren London and Antwan Andre Patton (aka Big Boi of the duo OutKast) alongside established actors Keith David (Pitch Black), Lanette McKee (Malcolm X)and Mykelti Williamson (Forest Gump).

ATL is a movie set in current times that portrays young men and women battling with the process of growing up while not perpetuating the stereotype of urban kids. Defined as a new urban drama ATL defies the typical ‘hood’ flick and brings to life the daily routines of young black teens in downtown Atlanta.

With excellent visuals and a soundtrack that constantly reminds you that these are real places, people and problems, ATL is unexpected, funny and with a pace and rhythm all of its own.

SYNOPSIS:
Sometimes 17-year-old Rashad (Tip Harris) and his pals hang out at the Waffle House, trying to figure out what's next after they graduate. But on Sunday nights, they know what's coming. They'll be at the Cascade roller rink: laying down moves, chillin' with friends...and for a few hours leaving what's outside, outside. ATL is a Sunday night fever of laughs, drama and crunk sounds.

Rashad (Tip Harris) was forced to become the man of the house earlier than most. Since the death of his parents Rashad has carried the responsibility for himself and his little brother Ant (Evan Ross) squarely on his shoulders.  While he does his best to keep Ant in school and out of the trouble that’s always around the corner in their south Atlanta neighbourhood, sometimes it seems like a losing battle.  Rashad soon learns that he can not be everywhere at once, and Ant is dangerously close to falling under the spell of a blinged-out local dealer who promises fast money and respect.  A talented artist, Rashad’s future only begins to open up when he gets together with New (Lauren London).

The DVD will include the following enhanced content:

  • Deleted Scenes
  • Featurette: In the Rink – A Director’s Journey.  Follow director Chris Robinson as his feature film debut takes place before your eyes along with the excitement of the growing Atlanta music scene with hip hop rapper T.I., roller skaters and the many diverse areas of ATL
