Written and directed by Oscar®-nominated writer Douglas McGrath (Emma, Bullets Over Broadway) the film chronicles the story behind Capote's true crime masterpiece In Cold Blood, a book that would bring him fame and respect~ but at what price?
Based on George Plimpton's 1997 book, Truman Capote: In Which Various Friends, Enemies, Acquaintances and Detractors Recall His Turbulent Career, INFAMOUS features an all-star cast that includes Daniel Craig, Sandra Bullock (as Harper Lee), Gwyneth Paltrow, Jeff Daniels, Hope Davis, Isabella Rossellini, Peter Bogdanovich and Sigourney Weaver.
SYNOPSIS
1959 Manhattan was a party, and none of the glitterati glittered brighter than Truman Capote. |
Then he saw a story in The New York Times: "Wealthy Farmer, 3 of Family Slain," and the party ended. Abandoning the comfort of New York high society, Capote travels to Kansas to research the cold-blooded murders of a local family in order to write a new kind of non-fiction novel.

Such a labour of love would demand Truman’s deep personal involvement with the murderers, an undertaking that resurrects demons of his own. What begins as an investigative journey with longtime friend Harper Lee (Sandra Bullock), who was soon to publish the Pulitzer Prize-winning To Kill a Mockingbird, leads to something altogether darker when he is drawn into the dangerous world of convicted killer Perry Smith (Daniel Craig). INFAMOUS is the compelling study of the complex and tortured relationship between Truman and Perry, a bond formed in a prison cell that brought the destruction of Capote’s career, as well as his soul.
