Glamour, wealth, sex, extravagance – it must be the 1980s! Warner Home Video invites you to celebrate the decade of decadence with the release on DVD of two iconic series’ from TV’s golden age. Knots Landing: The Complete First Season and Dallas: The Complete Sixth Season are both available to own from 19 February 2006.

The shoulder pads in California may be a little smaller than in Texas but Knots Landing retains the high drama that makes parent show Dallas such a huge hit on DVD. Proclaimed as “the original Desperate Housewives” by USA Today, both series’ set the standard in attracting and retaining viewers through sexy characters and dramatic, long-running storylines that has since been adopted successfully by shows including The OC, Friends and The Sopranos.

Knots Landing depicts the lives and loves of five suburban families who live in an upper-middle class Southern California cul-de-sac where life is seldom dull. Never previously available to buy in the UK until the release of Season One on 19 February, the show debuted in 1979 and continued delighting and shocking audiences until finally coming to an end in 1993.

Dallas was originally conceived as a show based on the married lives of a few ordinary American families. The original scripts were rejected for not having enough “glitz” but, one huge injection of glamour later, Dallas as we know it was born and quickly became a worldwide television phenomenon like nothing before. Screened in 130 countries and garnering an incredible 19 Emmy and 15 Golden Globe nominations, the show pioneered the concept of must-see night-time drama. Running for thirteen hugely successful seasons, the show was so successful that a spin-off series was launched: Knots Landing went on to become the second longest running primetime series in TV history.

KNOTS LANDING SEASON 1 - SYNOPSIS
Knots Landing follows the fate of Gary Ewing (Ted Shackelford), the son of a wealthy Texan oil tycoon, whose alcoholism estranges him from the family. In an attempt to rebuild his life Gary moves to California where he is reunited with ex-wife Valene (Joan Van Ark) and their daughter Lucy. The scenic but insular cul-de-sac where they reside is a hotbed of neighbourhood politics featuring rich, complex characters that are as ruthless, cruel and vindictive as they are vulnerable, loving and compassionate. The show exposes all manner of scandal – from illegal and prescription drug abuse, abortion, homelessness to the environment and illiteracy – and these controversial topics made the show a prime source of water cooler chat throughout much of the '80s.

DALLAS SEASON 6 - SYNOPSIS
Season 6 starts with ice: J.R. gets the cold shoulder when the family votes him out as president of Ewing Oil. And it ends with fire: Southfork ablaze, with four Ewings trapped by roaring flames. In between, J.R. and Bobby bare-knuckle it out in their biggest fight yet over Ewing Oil, thanks to their father's will. Plus Bobby and Pam split up, J.R. and Sue Ellen remarry and J.R. sees Cuba's jail system from the wrong side of the bars. Add a Texas whirlwind of lying, cheating and bed hopping and, as J.R. might say, "Darlin', this here is Dallas!"
